iZombie Comparison

If your not familiar with iZombie it's both a comic and T.V. Show on CW. The premise is "Olivia “Liv” Moore was a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, over-achieving medical resident, who had her life path completely mapped out until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie-feeding frenzy. Afterward, she became part zombie. She works at a coroner's office to give her access to the brains she must eat to survive. A side effect of her new diet is the ability to absorb the memories of the deceased, which helps her solve homicides."
The show is loosely based on the comic of the same name, plot line... "iZOMBIE follows the life of Gwen Dylan, a zombie who works as a gravedigger in Eugene, Oregon in order to be close to a ready food supply. She needs to eat one brain a month or she turns into a shambling creature out of Night of the Living Dead. When she eats brains, however, she also gets the memories that they come with.
These memories always lead to some mystery that Gwen needs to solve."
Honestly the show reminds me of the book series White Trash Zombie. Like the two books got together and had this tv show baby. Ok, more likely someone read one or both and saw how well unlikely/ buddy cop shows were doing... bam! Zombies are hot right now, buddy cop show always good, and based on a comic is a plus.
Michael Allred the illustrator from the comic was called in to do the opening credits and scene breaks for the show.

Artwork from comic

Beyond the artwork and a few plot points there is very little these two have in common. The TV Show is based solely on zombies having none of the other supernatural elements found in the comic. And thank goodness because I don't think I could handle a were-terrier, although Ravi does look a little like one. Having browsed through vol 1 of the comic and seeing all the seasons up to the current one, which is season 3, I have to say I'm partial to the tv show. Which is probably a first for me.
